A verb tells what someone or something does.
A verb is a word that tells what a person, animal or thing does.
run, jump, read, write, sing
Action verbs name things we can do, such as running, jumping or reading.
The boy runs.
In “The boy runs,” the verb runs tells us the action.
Birds fly.
In “Birds fly,” the verb fly tells what the birds do.
